The Problem That Started Everything
I formed Cable Co eighteen months ago through the acquisition and merger of multiple specialist construction ventures — electrical, telecommunications, and engineering businesses operating across NSW and QLD. We deliver specialist services for government, commercial, and industrial clients. We've built substations, wired data centres, and maintained critical infrastructure for some of Australia's largest organisations.
When you merge multiple businesses, you don't just inherit their revenue. You inherit their operational complexity. Every acquired business had its own systems, its own processes, its own admin team. Consolidating them meant confronting a brutal truth: the operational architecture of a modern trade business is fundamentally broken.
At peak complexity, we were running six disconnected systems: Simpro for job management, GoHighLevel for CRM and marketing, Xero for accounting, Google Workspace for documents and communication, a custom-built compliance tracker in spreadsheets, and WhatsApp groups for real-time crew coordination. None of them talked to each other properly. Every piece of information that moved between systems required a human to copy it, reformat it, and paste it somewhere else.
The cost of that fragmentation was eight admin staff — and that doesn't account for the revenue we lost because of it.
The Leads That Died in the Gap
Here's what eight admin staff couldn't prevent: leads dying in the gap between systems.
A homeowner would fill out a form on our website requesting an EV charger quote. That lead would land in GoHighLevel. Someone in the office would see it — eventually — and manually create a job in Simpro. Then someone else would need to check the schedule, assign an estimator, and send a quote. By the time that quote reached the customer, it was days later.
In the meantime, the customer had already called two other electricians. One of them answered the phone at 7pm on a Tuesday and said "yeah mate, I can do that for $2,200." Job gone.
We weren't losing work because we were expensive or incompetent. We were losing work because our operational architecture couldn't move fast enough. The information existed. The capability existed. But the human bottleneck between systems meant that a $4,000 job could evaporate in the time it took someone to copy a phone number from one platform to another.
The Solutions That Failed
We tried everything the market offered.
Simpro Premium gave us better reporting but didn't solve the handoff problem. Data still lived in silos. Quotes still required manual assembly.
GoHighLevel automation let us build workflows — but they were brittle. If a lead didn't fit the exact template, the automation broke. And GHL had no understanding of trade-specific requirements: compliance documents, licence verification, site-specific safety plans.
Hiring more admin was the most expensive non-solution. Every new hire added coordination overhead. More people didn't halve the problems — they multiplied them.
Integration platforms (Zapier, Make) connected systems on the surface but couldn't handle the decision logic. They could move data from A to B, but they couldn't decide whether to move it, when to escalate, or what to do when something didn't match expected parameters.
None of these solutions addressed the core problem: our business needed something that could think across all six systems simultaneously, make decisions in real time, and execute without waiting for a human to notice, interpret, and act.
The Breakthrough
Daniel Rossi — who'd spent eight years building autonomous control systems for critical infrastructure — looked at our operation and said something that changed everything:

We went from 8 admin staff to a lean team of Claude-verified AI architects — virtual assistants trained and verified on AI-augmented workflows who operate with the precision of a well-orchestrated system. These aren't traditional VAs doing data entry. They're AI-native operators who use Claude and other AI tools as their primary working environment, architecting solutions rather than manually processing tasks.
The result: faster response times, fewer errors, lower overhead, and a business that actually scales without linearly scaling headcount.
That transformation — proving that AI-augmented operations can replace traditional admin at scale — is what gave us the conviction to build Zayin.ai as a platform for the entire industry.
Building the Platform
Zayin.ai takes everything we learned from Cable Co's transformation and productises it into five autonomous agents:

The Decision to Scale
We could have kept the AI-augmented model as our competitive advantage. And for a while, that's exactly what we did.
But two things changed our thinking.
First, US venture firms started paying attention. When an Australian trade business starts operating with the efficiency metrics of a tech company, people notice. The conversations weren't about whether the model worked — they could see it working in our operations.
Second, we were accepted into a leading SaaS incubator that brought world-class agentic engineering talent onto our team. Engineers who've built agent orchestration systems at enterprise scale. Their assessment was unambiguous: what we'd proven inside Cable Co was architecturally sound, commercially validated, and ready to be productised.
That's when Zayin.ai became more than an internal transformation. It became a platform.
What This Means for the Industry

We're now preparing to onboard 50 trade businesses — from low six-figure operations to nine-figure enterprises. The scale of the problem demands a platform that works at every level.
